Appartement Madrague in Saint-Tropez occupies the third floor of a traditional “Tropézien” house, with its pale yellow façade and pastel-hued shutters. A spiral staircase leads up to this charming duplex. Inside, the light, airy design scheme has a decidedly seaside feel. Splashes of lively colour – a yellow lampshade here, turquoise bed linen there – liven up the immaculately white walls, with a pearlescent shine that recalls the famous Brigitte Bardot song. On the floor, woven seagrass rugs are a comfortable fit for bare feet. The windows all look out over the port, through floaty white curtains which seem to match the sails of the boats below. Take your morning coffee down by the port, before heading to the market on Place des Lices. Fill up your basket with colourful vegetables and Provençal delicacies, perfect for a spot of lunch on the balcony as you watch the port come to life. As you wait for the midday sun to subside, stroll through the shady streets of the old town. Catching sight of Atelier Rondini, the temptation to order a bespoke pair of leather tropéziennes is too much to resist. Later in the day, check out the legendary Club 55 for cocktails as the sun sets over Pampelonne Beach.

The surroundings  

The last few die-hards are still spilling out of the clubs as the sun rises over Saint-Tropez. Meanwhile the fishermen are making their way back to port, their nets loaded with fish that will soon find their way into the traditional bouillabaisse. The early risers are already settling into the bright red chairs of Sénéquier’s iconic terrace, sipping on iced coffees as they flick through the pages of Var Matin. Barely 200 metres away, Appartement Madrague looks out over the port. Its sun-soaked veranda gives you front-row seats to the never-ending parade of sailboats and luxury yachts.
